You can enter images into Word in different ways:

• Importing into Word with a link: Insert > Picture > Insert > Link to file
• Directly copying images into the file: Insert > Picture > Insert

Most images in Word are directly copied into the Word file. In this case, it is not that easy to extract these images out of the file.

As of Word 2010, a Word-file is essentially a zipped XML-file. As such, you can open it in an XML-editor, but also in WinZip. This way you can unzip (extract) the file. You can find your images in the subfolder word\media in your output folder.
