Adding a page before a TOC

Every Flare user has been there before: You add a title page to your page layouts, and it needs to be above the TOC in the output files. You link the corresponding topics to each other in your TOC editor and build your output.

Unfortunately, you end up with this:

  1. TOC
  2. Title page
  3. Rest of the content

How can you make sure that your title page comes before your TOC?

To add your title page before the TOC, you need to insert a TOC proxy:

  1. Open your preferred output target.
  2. Open the Advanced tab.
  3. Clear the Generate TOC Proxy checkbox.
  4. Create a new topic.
  5. Include a TOC proxy by clicking Insert > Proxy > Insert TOC Proxy.
  6. Open the TOC editor.
  7. Insert the TOC proxy in a topic page below your title page.
  8. Click Build or Publish to generate the output of your target.

The output of the target is now as you wanted:

  1. Title page
  2. TOC
  3. Rest of the content
