dropbox:share_files

Share files

For people who sometimes share files on Dropbox: There is a subtle difference between “share link” and “invite to folder”:

  • Share link: the receiver gets the folder, but that folder doesn’t synchronise. If the receiver makes a subfolder or adds files, the original owner doesn’t get the changes.
  • Invite to folder: If the receiver makes a subfolder or adds files, the original owner gets all changes.

You can see the subtle difference in the subject of the mail you’re getting, for example:

  • Lies shared “foldername” with you = share link
  • Lies want to share “foldername” with you = invite to folder

You can also see this if you watch the icons of folders in dropbox.com:

invite to folder (sync) shared folder (no sync)
